Sam Neill, the internationally acclaimed actor remembered by millions for portraying paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park franchise, has died at the age of 78.
His family confirmed that Neill died on Monday, July 13, in Sydney, Australia. In a statement shared through his official Instagram account, relatives said he passed away surrounded by loved ones and described his death as “sudden and unexpected.” They also noted that he had remained cancer-free following treatment for a rare form of blood cancer.
Family Pays Tribute
In their statement, Neill’s family remembered the actor as someone who faced life’s challenges with dignity. They also expressed gratitude to the medical staff who cared for him during his final days in Sydney.
Neill publicly revealed in 2023 that he had been diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Earlier this year, he shared that his treatment had been successful and that there was no detectable cancer in his body.Photo Credit: Getty Images
