Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s lavish wedding continues to generate headlines, with one unexpected omission attracting almost as much attention as the celebrity-filled guest list itself. Among the high-profile names missing from the celebration was former daytime television host Ellen DeGeneres, despite Swift having been one of the most frequent celebrity guests on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The wedding, held at Madison Square Garden, reportedly welcomed around 1,000 guests from the worlds of entertainment, sports and business. While many longtime friends and collaborators attended, DeGeneres was not among them.

A Long Television History
Swift first appeared on DeGeneres’ show in 2008 while promoting her breakthrough album Fearless. Over the following years, she returned repeatedly for interviews, performances and comedy sketches, making a total of 19 appearances between 2008 and 2021.
Several moments from those visits became memorable for viewers, including playful interviews and promotional segments. One widely discussed appearance in 2013 saw Swift appear uncomfortable as DeGeneres repeatedly joked about the singer’s dating life. Swift’s final appearance came in 2021 through a pre-recorded segment rather than an in-studio interview during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reports Suggest the Relationship Stayed Professional
Despite their frequent on-screen chemistry, reports indicate there was never a close personal friendship between the two.
According to a person familiar with the production of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Swift was regarded as a favorite guest because she consistently participated in interviews, performances and special segments. Even so, the relationship reportedly remained centered on the television program rather than extending into their private lives.
That distinction may explain why DeGeneres was absent from the wedding despite years of television appearances together.
A Carefully Chosen Guest List
Swift and Kelce’s wedding brought together an extensive list of celebrities, close friends and family members after the couple’s relationship, engagement and marriage became major entertainment stories over the past three years.
The event was officiated by Adam Sandler and featured numerous well-known guests from music, film and professional sports. Recent reports also say the couple covered significant security and event costs associated with hosting the celebration at Madison Square Garden.
With such a large gathering, attention has naturally shifted toward the notable figures who were not invited. DeGeneres’ absence stands out because of her long television history with Swift, though available reporting suggests the decision reflects the difference between a successful professional partnership and a lasting personal friendship rather than any publicly confirmed dispute.
