Three-time Olympic champion Adam Ramsay-Peaty has marked a personal milestone alongside his return to elite competition by racing under his new surname at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
For the first time at a major international championship, the Team England swimmer’s cap displayed “Ramsay-Peaty,” reflecting the surname he adopted after marrying Holly Ramsay, the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, in December 2025.
The updated name was quickly noticed by fans as England’s swimming team prepared for competition. Holly, who is expecting the couple’s first child, shared a photograph of her husband wearing the new cap on social media, captioning it simply: “So Special.”
A Personal Milestone Before a Major Championship
The surname change comes several months after the couple’s wedding at Bath Abbey and represents another significant moment in a year that has included both marriage and the announcement of their growing family. The pair revealed in June that they are expecting their first child.
Although Peaty has been one of Britain’s most recognisable swimmers for more than a decade, Glasgow marks the first occasion he has competed at a major championship using his updated name.
Focus Remains on the Pool
Despite the attention surrounding his personal life, Ramsay-Peaty has stressed that his priority remains his performances in the water. Ahead of the Games, he said he wants his racing to speak for itself and is determined not to be distracted by outside discussion.
The 31-year-old is contesting the 50m and 100m breaststroke events, where he hopes to add to an already remarkable career that includes multiple Olympic, World and Commonwealth titles. Glasgow also represents another step in his preparations as he continues targeting future international success.
Chasing More Commonwealth History
Ramsay-Peaty first made his mark at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 and has since become one of England’s most decorated swimmers. His return to the Scottish city offers an opportunity to extend that legacy while beginning a new chapter under the Ramsay-Peaty name.
With his family supporting him from the stands and a fresh surname now accompanying his achievements, the focus shifts back to the competition as one of Britain’s greatest swimmers looks to add another medal to his collection.
